Water, Heat & Steam; the common cause of damage to furniture.

All gloss worktops, doors and surfaces will scratch and will show scratches more easily. Additional care should be taken accordingly in both usage and cleaning. Cuts and scratches will be noticeable on dark decors and gloss finishes.

St Steel, Timber, Vinyl, MFC, Lacquer & Acrylic Doors, MFC Carcasses, Panels and Laminated Work surfaces:

For cleaning use 5% liquid soap, 95% warm water solution, wiping with damp (not wet) cloth, finally drying with paper towels or microfibre cloth. Dust with soft cloth only.

Streaks often form when the surface is cleaned with organic solvents together with cold water and old cloths.

Do not use wax-furniture polish, abrasive or aggressive cleaners, bleach or other hypo chlorate (chlorine) based cleaners, multipurpose cleaners, dilutes, acetone, alcohol, solvent, steam cleaning equipment or similar products as this will damage the surface.

The use of such cleaning agents should be avoided as they will have a detrimental effect. Coarse and abrasive cloths and sponges are also not recommended. All of these can lead to scratching and dis-colouring of the foil, lacquer and acrylic surfaces.

Kettles, Coffee Machines, Fryers and any other heat or steam source should not be positioned directly over worktop joints, below wall units, near cabinet doors and accessories. Constant changes in temperature could cause the joint to move and eventually fail.

Please do not cut or chop directly on the worktop surface – always use a chopping board or worktop saver.

Always place hot pans, ovenware and irons on a trivet or protective pad to protect the surface from intense heat which can cause damage to the worktop if placed directly on the surface.

Allow to cool before placing on worktop surface.

Please do not leave open flames from gas hob – flames must be covered by saucepan.

Do not allow flames to overlap the sides of the saucepans. Ensure flames are contained within the Hob surface area.

Do not leave Oven or Grill doors open when in use.

Water that has run on to the doors and cooking splashes should be dried off immediately.

We cannot accept any responsibility for any damage caused by heat or steam to our doors panels and accessories if our recommendations have not been adhered to.

Glass Splashbacks:

When using the rear burners of the Gas hob please ensure that the flames do not exceed pass the pan base. Excessive flames for long period of time may cause damage to the glass.

High Gloss Doors are supplied with a protective film which should be removed after all works have been completed. After which it can be cleaned as directed above. Cleaning and polishing of Hi Gloss surfaces and doors will leave minor scratches and swirling polish marks. This is unavoidable and is normal for gloss foils, lacquers and acrylics.

Quartz & Sintered Worktops:

Quartz & Sintered products require the least maintenance. However, it’s important to make sure you are looking after these correctly. Whenever spill occurs it’s important to wipe straight away. The longer the substance is left the greater the damage can potentially be.
There is no special cleaner required, avoid any worktop cleaners that you buy off the shelves, they can be expensive and they add a layer of product to the surface making it look streaky and mark badly. We would recommend warm soapy water or CifActifizz which is the product recommended by one of the best worktop brands.

Never use strong chemical products (caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and paint stripper) on your surfaces. This extends to bleach, which, if left on the surface for a few hours, can affect the surface. To remove a specific stain, we would recommend to use Cif Cream, gently scrub the area with circular motions until it completely disappears and then finally clean the area with CifActifizz to remove any residue. If the stain is still persistent, we would recommend to repeat the process but with Astonish oven cleaner.

While quartz worktops can withstand a significant amount of heat, it’s not completely heatproof and can be damaged by extreme temperatures. It’s important to note that the resin binder used in engineered quartz worktops can be damaged at much lower temperatures, around 150°C (302°F), so placing very hot cookware directly on a quartz surface is not recommended.

Sintered worktops can withstand significant heat without damage. This is due to the sintering process for creating sintered stone typically occurs at temperatures above 1,000°C.
